A busy downtown Toronto intersection will remain closed for an unknown amount of time after a garbage truck downed power lines Tuesday morning.

The intersection of King Street and Spadina Avenue has been shut down since 8:15 a.m. after a truck made contact with the overhead wires, which provide power to the streetcar network.

Police initially said the closure could last as long as two days, but later clarified they aren’t sure how long it will take to repair the damage.

This is a developing story. More to come.
