Police arrested two men and two women Thursday and charged them with 543 charges in connection with a fraud investigation that preyed on the elderly in the Toronto area.

Police allege that between November 2011 and February 2012, the suspects would target elderly people in the GTA. In each case they would stand behind their victims while in a store, and look over their shoulders while entering their PIN numbers.

Once the victim left the store, one or more of the accused would allegedly distract the victim and pickpocket them. They would then use the victim's debit or credit card to commit the frauds.

Police believe there may be more victims.

The accused are scheduled to appear in a Toronto court March 9.
