An Air Canada flight from Australia landed safely at Toronto's Pearson International Airport on Tuesday despite a brief scare on the last leg of the trip.

Emergency crews rushed to the airport shortly after 4 p.m. after receiving reports the plane was letting off smoke. Sources told CTV Toronto the smoke was produced by a problem with the entertainment system.

The plane landed safely and no one was injured, Scott Armstrong, a spokesperson for the Greater Toronto Airport Authority, told CTV.ca on Tuesday afternoon.

"We had some emergency vehicles standing by but they ended up not being needed," said Armstrong, who would not confirm the report of the smoke. "It was a totally normal, safe landing."

Flight 034 originated in Sydney and made a stop in Vancouver before heading to Toronto. About 250 people were aboard the Boeing 777, Armstrong said, listing a "possible mechanical issue" as the reason for the emergency measures.
