While Honda Indy drivers sped around the track during the race's qualifying round, fans got the chance to check out some of the race's most sleek and powerful vehicles on Saturday.

Jason Diassorby said it was his son's dream to be up close and personal with the vehicles. Four-year-old Max said his favourite part was seeing the steering wheels.

For 16-year-old racing hopefully Olivia Patty, it was seeing the ambition of the drivers that was special.

"They followed their dream and now they're making it, so I am going to follow them, and I'm going to follow my dream and hopefully make it," Patty said.

Other fans said it's the roar of the engines that keeps them coming back.

Will Power, the defending champ, took the pole position.
