A family in Uxbridge, Ont., has raised a large monetary reward in the hopes that someone might come forward with new information about the murder of their son.
Warren Skinner announced on Monday, the anniversary of his son's birthday, that he had raised an extra $25,000 to make the total reward $150,000.
He said he had become frustrated after the investigation had not led to any suspects or arrests, a year and a half after his son's murder.
"Sooner or later someone's going to think this is worth my efforts here," said Skinner.
Christopher Skinner was killed on Oct. 18, 2009, after being run over by an SUV while walking home on Adelaide Street in downtown Toronto.
Surveillance footage captured his last steps before he was beaten up by as many as four motorists in a passing SUV.
His father said, "You wake up (and) one day is good, one day is bad. Two days it's good, two days it's bad.
Homicide Investigator Stacy Gallant said he thinks someone in that SUV has talked.
"The people that are in the car must have spoken to other people whether it is a relative, a girlfriend, an ex-girlfriend, friends, or acquaintances. I don't think it's something that they could hold in all to themselves," Gallant said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 416-808-7400, or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
