WHITBY, Ont. -- Durham regional police say the estimate of damages caused by vandals at a soccer facility in a community east of Toronto has been revised from the initial $1 million.
Investigators say they've learned that repairs to the dome structure in Whitby were successful and the dome will not have to be replaced.
Initial reports suggested that the dome would have to be replaced, pushing the damage estimate over $1 million.
Police say someone broke into the domed soccer facility late last month by cutting the side of the dome, which is supported by air pressure.
Police say damage to the dome was extensive but nothing appeared to have been stolen.
They now say the damage estimate has been lowered to about $20,000.
