Police are looking for three suspects after an elderly couple in their early 70s was tied up with electrical wire during an armed home robbery.

Durham Regional Police Service said three male suspects armed with handguns barged through the unlocked front door of an Ajax home at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police say the suspects ransacked the home for approximately 90 minutes, stealing computer equipment and electronics, before fleeing. The two victims, who were not physically injured, later untied themselves and called police.

Police are investigating if the robbery was a result of a case of mistaken identity.

The three suspects are described as:

  • Suspect one: male, black, approximately six feet tall with a medium to large muscular build, and a goatee
  • Suspect two: male, black, approximately 5 feet 11 with a slim build
  • Suspect three: male, black with short curly hair
