A special weather statement has been issued for Toronto as an Arctic cold front sweeps across the region, bringing with it poor road conditions that are expected to continue into Friday morning.

Environment Canada says visibility in exposed areas is expected to be reduced to one kilometre or less due to strong, gusty winds and blowing snow.

Up to five centimetres of snow is expected in Toronto, but near the Great Lakes, Environment Canada says between five to 10 centimetres is possible.

A special weather statement has also been issued for a number of other areas including:

  • York-Durham
  • Hamilton
  • Halton-Peel
  • Peterborough-Kawartha Lakes
