A stretch of road in downtown Toronto was shut for the second day on Tuesday to accommodate the filming of a big budget action movie.

Lake Shore Boulevard is closed between Jarvis and Parliament Streets until 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

The stretch is a vital route for people coming in and out of the downtown core and its closure has caused commuting headaches and gridlock as motorists search for ways around the film set.

Regular traffic was replaced with flying cars and film props from the science fiction action flick "Total Recall."

"Total Recall," starring Colin Farrell and Jessica Biel, is a remake of the 1990 cult classic starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Its $200-million budget makes the movie the largest film production in Toronto history.

The movie is scheduled to be released in theatres in 2012.
