Delivery truck driver critically injured in three-vehicle collision on Hwy. 400
A delivery truck driver is in critical condition after a three-vehicle collision on Highway 400 that resulted in a lengthy closure on Wednesday.
The crash occurred on the southbound lanes of the highway near Sheppard Avenue just before noon.
“The traffic was slowing. A tractor-trailer and a pickup truck (were) slowing due to congestion. A delivery truck collided into the back of the tractor-trailer, which pushed it into the pickup truck,” OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said.

The driver of the delivery truck, a 47-year-old man from Woodstock, has been taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The highway was closed for most of the day and reopened just before 7 p.m.
Meanwhile, a driver was charged with impaired driving after she allegedly drove through the closed highway.
Schmidt said officers were able to stop her before she reached the collision scene. He added that the driver subsequently failed a roadside test.
