An Oakville man is facing charges after a teenaged cheerleader was sexually assaulted on Sunday.

A 16-year-old girl contacted Halton Regional Police on June 15 to report an inappropriate sexual relationship with a cheerleading coach.

The girl told police that the man who assaulted her was a coach at her training centre, Cheerforce Wolfpack, at 1060 South Service Rd. in Oakville.

Halton Regional Police Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Bureau investigated the girl's claims, and a man was located and arrested without incident on Tuesday.

Jonathan O'Brien, 25, from Grimsby has been charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court in Milton on July 15.
