Toronto police charged two men in connection with a shooting and stabbing incident that occurred in the city's east end last Monday.

Police said they received a call at about 8:20 p.m. after gun shots were heard outside the East York Town Centre at 45 Overlea Blvd.

Two 19-year-old men and one 18-year-old man were leaving the shopping centre when they were approached and attacked by a group of unknown men, police say.

One of victims was shot in the leg with a handgun, another was stabbed twice in the stomach and chest and the third was stabbed near his eye.

Toronto residents Walid Tarzi, 21, and Shoaib Asakzai, 20, were arrested and charged on Sunday morning.

Both men face 11 charges including attempted murder, pointing a firearm and careless use of a firearm.

Both suspects are scheduled to make an appearance in court on Sunday.
