NEWMARKET, Ont. - A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a bank employee who allegedly stole about $1.9 million from customers.

York Region police say the thefts from the CIBC in Newmarket, north of Toronto, occurred between August 2007 and June 2008.

Police say the suspect's position included the servicing of customer accounts and assistance in the purchase and management of CIBC products.

It's alleged an audit of the suspect's activities show he took money from customer accounts.

Police says funds withdrawn at the request of a client to buy various products were never completed or funds were withdrawn without authorization.

Police say they believe the suspect, identified as 46-year-old Sethuraj (Babji) Mokada of Newmarket, is still in Canada.
