TORONTO - A Toronto-based company operating a call centre in Chatham has been fined after employees were left without vacation pay and wages in 2004.

CMN Call Centre Services Inc. employed about 200 people at the centre, but failed to pay them for two months in late 2004.

The company was found guilty of failing to comply with a Ministry of Labour order to pay $392,508.95 issued in January 2005.

CMN was fined $100,000 and company director John McConvey was personally fined $50,000.

In addition to the fines, the Ontario Court of Justice imposed a 25-per-cent victim fine surcharge on the total amount.
