TORONTO - Brandon Morrow allowed four hits and struck out eight but left the game after being struck on the leg in the seventh inning Wednesday as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Baltimore Orioles 4-1.

Morrow was diagnosed with a contusion of the right shin and was listed by the club as day to day.

The Blue Jays had solo home runs from Edwin Encarnacion, Rajai Davis, Brett Lawrie of Langley, B.C. and Colby Rasmus in completing a three-game sweep of the Orioles.

Until he left the game Morrow (6-3) showed a big improvement over his previous start at Texas last Friday when he allowed six runs in two-thirds of an inning, his shortest career start.

Morrow pitched 6 1/3 innings and struck out eight in holding the Orioles to one run on Wednesday. The Orioles' fourth hit of the game was the one that injured him, a shot by Wilson Betemit that hit Morrow on the right shin with one out in the seventh inning.

Morrow was helped off the field, keeping the right leg off the ground. He was replaced by Carlos Villanueva.

Casey Janssen pitched the ninth for his fifth save of the season.

Orioles starter Jason Hammel (6-2) allowed four runs and nine hits, four of them homers, in 6 2/3 innings. Hammel, who took his first loss since April 30, allowed a total of three homers in his nine previous starts this season.

It was the fifth loss in a row for the Orioles (29-22) and their advantage in the season series with the Blue Jays (27-24) fell to 5-4.

Morrow gave up a run in the second on a single by Ryan Flaherty off the glove of shortstop Yunel Escobar. It scored Mark Reynolds, who walked with one out and took third on a single by Betemit.

Encarnacion tied it with a leadoff homer in the home second, his 17th of the season with 12 of them at Rogers Centre.

Davis led off the home third with his third homer of the season on a 1-0 pitch. He showed bunt on the first pitch and it came inside and sent him to the ground.

Lawrie led off the fourth with his fourth homer of the season to stretch Toronto's lead to 3-1.

It was 4-1 after Rasmus extended his hitting streak to seven games with his sixth homer of the season with one out in the fifth.

Morrow recorded 11 outs in a row until he hit Adam Jones with a pitch with two out in the sixth. Jones was 0-for-3 to end a 20-game hitting streak.
