A baby born prematurely after the mother was involved in a two-vehicle crash in Scarborough has died in hospital.
According to police, a Hyundai Sonata was travelling west on Sheppard Avenue East on Tuesday afternoon when it attempted to make a left turn into a private driveway.
While turning into the driveway, the vehicle was struck by a Nissan Rouge heading east.
The 29-year-old woman was a passenger in the Hyundai along with a 29-year-old man.
She was rushed to hospital where she gave birth. Police said Thursday that the baby died in hospital on Wednesday – just one day after the collision.
It’s unclear whether the 59-year-old driver of the Nissan suffered any injuries.
No charges have been laid at this time.
