Toronto Police have identified a 36-year-old suspect arrested shortly after a vicious stabbing incident inside the Eaton Centre on Tuesday afternoon.

Police were called to the mall at 2:19 p.m. Tuesday when two male suspects approached a 20-year-old male victim near the La Senza store inside the mall

A witness told CTV Toronto that one assailant stabbed the victim in the stomach with a knife, and then a security guard was able to push him off of the victim, causing him to drop his knife.

He was able to recover it and stab the victim again in the shoulder blade.

One of the two suspects was later arrested east of the mall after fleeing the scene on foot.

The second suspect in this incident is still outstanding, Const. Victor Kwong said.

Investigators say they have recovered the knife that was used. Investigators also allege that at one point the suspect assaulted the victim with a wet floor sign.

A suspect identified as Shane Michael MacLean is facing numerous charges including two counts of assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, attempted murder, possession of a weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.

He is expected to appear in court Wednesday morning at Old City Hall. Investigators say MacLean is known to police.

The second suspect in this incident is still outstanding, Const. Victor Kwong said.
