Summer is almost over, but you'd never know it from the weather.

For the fourth consecutive day, Toronto is baking under a hot, humid air mass which is bringing some of the warmest temperatures of the year to the region.

Environment Canada says the temperature Wednesday will soar to 32 Celsius, which is about one degree cooler than Tuesday's high.

One Monday, the temperature at Toronto's Pearson Airport peaked out at 34.5 C, which stands as one of the hottest days of the year.

However, some locals who were hoping to hit a public pool and cool off on Wednesday were locked out, due to reduced hours at some facilities.

Mayoral candidate Rocco Rossi said it was unacceptable for the city to keep people out during one of the hottest days of the year.

Most city pools are open through Labour Day, but several around the city this week were shut until 4 p.m., despite temperatures soaring past 30 C by noon.

The humidity is a little lower Wednesday than in the previous few days, but it's still muggy outside. Smog and humidex advisories were issued again this morning.

The weather should cool later in the week, with forecasters calling for a high of 20 C on a Saturday. Rain is also expected.

On Sunday, the overnight low will dip to 11 C.
