Fire crews were called to a home under construction in downtown Toronto on Monday, in response to possible arson-related materials in the building. The residence is located near Toronto's Kensington Market neighbourhood, where police are investing two recent arson incidents.

Toronto Fire Services Cpt. Adrian Ratushniak told CTV Toronto crews were dispatched to the Dundas Street West and Bathurst Street area shortly after 11:15 a.m. Ratushniak said they were contacted by police after arson-related material was found at 79 Markham St.

The home is located near the site of two separate arson incidents, one on Augusta Avenue and the other on Oxford Street.

In the first incident, a man allegedly set fire to an item or items in a garage at 214 Augusta Ave. on Nov. 24. The following Monday, a fire was started on a deck of a home on Oxford Street. The blaze spread to nearby row houses, causing approximately $1 million in damages, and five cats died.

Photos and a surveillance video that shows the suspect wanted in connection with the fires was released last week.

Police have not said if the arson-related materials found in the Markham Street home is related to the two arson incidents.
