Police have made an arrest in Peel region's eighth homicide of the year.

Andres David Buritica-Marin died after being shot behind an apartment building on Shipp Drive on Tuesday night, less than one kilometre from the Square One Shopping Centre.

The 25-year-old male victim was from outside the Greater Toronto Area, though police have not publicly said where he was living at the time of his death.

Police initially said they were looking for three suspects who were spotted leaving the scene immediately after the shooting. Police say two vehicles -- a dark-coloured Mercedes SUV and a smaller, silver car -- were also seen leaving the scene.

On Friday, police announced that they had made an arrest in connection with the fatal shooting.
