Day 2: Tory, council back at City Hall

Toronto Mayor John Tory and his council are expected to be back in City Hall later this afternoon to continue the term’s first meeting. On Tuesday, Tory thanked his predecessor, Ward 2 Coun. Rob Ford for his continued public service, and moved a symbolic motion wishing him a speedy recovery.

Eaton Centre shooting trial continues

The forensic psychiatrist in Christopher Husbands' first-degree murder trial is expected to wrap up his testimony later today. Under cross-examination, Dr. Julian Gojer has already told the court that the accused Eaton Centre shooter may have known exactly what he was doing when he opened fire in the busy mall in June, 2012.

Phil Kessel ended a five-game goal drought Tuesday night, as the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Dallas Stars 5-3. The Leafs will be back on the ice on Thursday, when they play the New Jersey Devils at the Air Canada Centre.

The Toronto Raptors managed to hold off the Sacramento Kings 117-109, with help from Kyle Lowry's 27 points. The Raps will play against the Utah Jazz at the EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City, starting at 9 p.m. ET tonight.
