2 people charged for allegedly discharging smoke canister inside Union Station

Toronto police have charged two people accused of discharging a smoke canister inside Union Station on New Year’s Day.

Police said the incident happened as a demonstration was happening inside the downtown transit terminal.

The station was filled with smoke, which caused safety concerns, the police said.

Two people were arrested on Friday as a result of the investigation. They have been identified as 31-year-old Ahmad Hassan Hajahmad and 24-year-old Nabil Suheil Jalbout.

Both are facing one count of mischief interfere with the lawful use of property.
