WELLAND, Ont. -- Niagara Regional Police have re-arrested a Welland man as they continue their investigation into what they're calling "historical" sex offences in the city.

James Allen Clark was charged on Wednesday with seven sex offences after a number of alleged victims went to police with complaints about being abused when they were youths.

Clark was released Thursday, but investigators say he was placed back in custody Friday after more alleged victims came forward.

He was charged with five new offences -- two counts of sexual assault, one of sexual exploitation and two of administering a noxious substance.

Clark will remain in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for later today.

Police say they believe there may be more alleged victims, and are urging anyone with information to call the Niagara Regional Police Sexual Assault Unit.
