Police say two suspects are facing multiple attempted murder and kidnapping charges after a shooting in Brampton that injured a Peel police officer and a civilian.

Peel police spokesperson Const. Thomas Ruttan said the officer was on a call on Stokes Road at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Friday when he was shot in his cruiser.

The officer was stuck by a single shot and was able to drive away from the scene. Ruttan said the officer suffered serious injuries, but is expected to survive. The civilian also suffered gunshot wounds.

Police say a second civilian victim was also located nearby, but was not injured.

Christopher Osborne, 25, and Tyrel Nicholson, 23, are each facing two counts of attempted murder, two kidnapping charges and numerous firearms-related offences.

Both men appeared in court over the weekend.

Police are also searching for a third suspect who is considered to be armed and dangerous. The suspect is described as a black male wearing dark clothing.

Ruttan said police “are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the suspect,” but also warned residents not to approach the man.
