A man accused of fraud using online dating sites has been arrested, police say.

After talking online with a woman between Dec. 30 and Feb. 18, he convinced her to send him $15,000 electronically in return for having her debts deleted, police allege.

The man identified himself to the victim as a sports recruiter or personal trainer, according to police.

Toronto police say that Romelo Woods, 37, of no fixed address, was taken into custody Monday night. He also goes by Jake Simon, Jesse Simon and Simon Wright.

Woods has been charged with two counts of fraud over $5,000, two counts of failing to attend court and one count of obstructing a peace officer.

Police believe there may be more victims to the case, and will continue to investigate.

Anyone with more information or complaints is asked to contact police at 416-808-1404 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
