Nearly two weeks after a massive ice storm took out power to thousands of homes across eastern Ontario, Toronto Hydro crews say they remain on the "highest level of emergency" and hope to fully restore power across the GTA later today.

Toronto Hydro confirmed via Twitter early Wednesday that about 100 customers now remain without power. That’s down from nearly 300,000 residents at the peak of the storm.

Hydro officials say they are working around the clock to restore power to remaining households. Crews on the ground say they are still dealing with several new outages across the city, some from homeowners returning from vacation to find their homes without power.

Toronto Hydro is asking customers still waiting for their power to come back to turn off their televisions, computers and any other electronic equipment that may be damaged during a power surge.

While restoring power across the city is almost complete, city officials say the task of clearing trees and repairing the widespread damage caused by last week’s storm could take up to eight weeks.

Updates from other power utilities:

Hydro One: 41 customers without power

PowerStream: Less than 150 customers without power as of Sunday
