Women will get the chance to perform in front of leaders in the Canadian music industry in Toronto on Saturday for the Honey Jam, a non-profit organization that helps female artists establish careers as musicians.

The open and live auditions will be at 2 p.m. at the Revival on College Street in Toronto’s Little Italy neighbourhood.

Around 20 young artists will be chosen for a chance to participate in workshops for vocal training and learning more about the industry.

One woman will have the opportunity to record a demo, participate in a professional development program and perform a concert in Barbados.

Since Honey Jam started in 1995, artists like Nelly Furtado, Jully Black and Grammy winner Melanie Fiona have auditioned.

Honey Jam gives young women aged 14 to 25 the chance to connect to others in the industry and learn more about what it takes to have a career in music.

This year’s judges include Karen Bliss, Canadian correspondent for Billboard, Vita Chambers, Juno-nominated recording artist, and Adrian Eccleston, Grammy Award-winning musical director, guitarist and artist.

The judges will decide on the winner and the other women who will receive industry training after the auditions this weekend.
