Two Toronto-area doctors have been charged with fraud following a tip from the Ministry of Health.

Ontario Provincial Police said the case was passed along by the ministry, when it was reported that the doctors had received payment for services that were never rendered.

The accused men were identified as owners of MIC Medical Imaging, OPP said in a statement on Wednesday.

MIC clinics in Orangeville, Bolton and Cambridge had billed Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) for chest ultrasounds that were never performed on patients, OPP said.

As a result of the investigation, 45-year-old Mukesh (Mick) Jain and 48-year-old Minto Jain have been charged with fraud over $5,000.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
