AURORA, Ont. - York Regional Police have charged a teenaged boy in connection with the stabbing of another teen at a banquet hall north of Toronto.

Police say officers who responded to a weapons call Thursday night at the Swaggat Banquet Hall in Markham found a 16-year-old boy in a bathroom, suffering from stab wounds.

The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and has since been stabilized.

Police say witnesses at the scene identified a suspect.

Officers were able to locate him within the crowd of people and police say the suspect was then arrested without incident.

A 16-year-old Markham teen faces seven charges, including attempted murder, assault with a weapon, breach of probation and identity fraud.
