Service on the Yonge-University-Spadina line resumed Friday morning after being brought to a halt the night before due to flooding.
Heavy rain that fell across the city flooded Lawrence subway station, causing delays for thousands of commuters who use the route, but the rain water has since been cleaned up and the station opened again at 6 a.m.
Rainfall and thunderstorm warnings were issued by Environment Canada during the storm that caused the flooding on Thursday.
The warnings were lifted shortly after 10 p.m., but some areas may still be flooded from the storm.
On Friday morning, the TTC warned that its 73 Royal York route was diverting on Friday morning due to flooding at Royal York Road and Dundas Street.
Flooding causes power outages
Police turned to Twitter Friday morning to report that some traffic lights were still out after the storm caused power outages in the Toronto area.
York Regional Police reported that power was out in Markham, along McCowan Road south of 14th Avenue. Power Stream, an energy company that operates in the area, said that complications meant that some residents of Markham would be without power until 9 a.m.
Toronto Hydro was not reporting any outages on Friday morning.
Risk of rainfall on Friday
Though there will be some sunny breaks on Friday, Environment Canada is calling for scattered showers in Toronto and surrounding areas.
The rain is expected to taper off on Saturday morning.
The forecast prompted Toronto and Region Conservation Flood Management to issue a warning to residents of the area to be cautious around bodies of water. The organization also warned motorists not to drive through water covering roadways.
