GO Transit says service has resumed on the Lakeshore West Line after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a train east of Mimico.

The incident occurred at around 6:30 a.m. between Mimico and Exhibition stations.

"Unfortunately we are going to have some major delays, cancelled trains and adjusted rush hour morning on our Lakeshore West but of course, those are trains that cycle through Lakeshore East so unfortunately there is going to be some residual delays on that as well," GO Transit spokesperson Vanessa Barrasa told CP24 Monday morning.

GO Transit put shuttle buses in place to supplement service, which was suspended for two hours.

"We do have bus routes that we are trying to put into operation at the moment that will help passengers transfer between Port Credit and the other stations to get into Union this morning," she said.

"It is difficult because it is rush hour and a lot of our buses are on the road but we will try to mobilize as many buses as possible to help."

Barrasa said Go Transit worked in conjunction with the TTC this morning to help passengers get moving.

"Whenever we do have a fatality, we work together and those passengers that would usually take GO, if you’ve tapped on to GO, you can now get on the TTC," she said.

The service resumed with some residual delays just before 8:30 a.m.

Police are seeking the public’s help to identify the pedestrian. He was described as a white man in his 20s who was around five-foot-six inches tall and weighed approximately 150 pounds. He had short light brown hair and a light brown trimmed beard.

He was wearing a grey t-shirt, dark jeans from Bluenotes, black leather high-top Nike shoes with black laces, a black belt and black socks. Police are asking anyone with information to call 416-808-1900.
