One man is recovering in hospital while one suspect is behind bars after a shooting at a Domino’s Pizza in Brampton overnight.

It happened near Wexford Road and Hurontario Street at around 11:30 p.m.

Two males entered the store on a busy Friday night, when five people were working, a pizza shop manager told CP24. The men demanded cash and at some point, a 24-year-old employee sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body, according to Const. Mark Fischer.

He was rushed to a Toronto trauma centre for treatment.

"It's possible that it is a robbery incident that may have gone terribly awry," Fischer told CTV Toronto.

The order of events is still unclear, police said on Saturday; they do not know whether the suspects got the cash before or after the employee was shot.

The Domino’s employee was not the only one shot. Police allege that a short time later, one of the suspects showed up in hospital with his own gunshot wound. He is now behind bars while officers look for his alleged accomplice, who is considered armed and dangerous.

“We are aware of good surveillance within this plaza and as to whether the video is good, we will have to look at that,” Fischer said.

The majority of the cash in the store would have been kept in a safe, according to the manager.

The manager said it appears the suspects left in a panic as cash from the cash register was found scattered on the ground inside the store.

Police say two suspects, described by investigators as black males, were seen fleeing the area at the time of the shooting.

The first suspect was reportedly wearing dark jeans and a white T-shirt. The second suspect, police say, had a heavy build and was wearing dark clothing.
