Toronto police are searching for the driver of a blue pickup truck believed to have been involved in a pedestrian fatality that partially closed the Gardiner Expressway overnight.

The eastbound lanes of the expressway were closed at Parkside Drive, near High Park, for several hours Wednesday night after a person fell from an overpass.

Traffic Services Const. Clint Stibbe said police suspect a blue truck with a roof ladder rack on the back struck the individual before the incident.

Stibbe said the truck appears to have also struck the guardrail and may have suffered damage to its right side.

He said police are interested in speaking to the driver of the vehicle and charges are not anticipated.
