Police are asking the public for any information on the violent murder of a man killed in his Toronto apartment more than 30 years ago.

On March 20, 1983, officers were called to the High Park North neighbourhood, near Dundas Street West and Keele Street, at 12:40 p.m.

When police arrived at the apartment, they found the body of Graham Hugh Pearce, 36, on the bathroom floor with a stab wound.

Pearce’s roommate made the call after discovering his body, police said.

It is believed the victim, a single gay man, went to two bars on the night of March 19 -- Boots Bar on Sherbourne Street and Stages Bar at Yonge Street, Det.-Sgt. Stacy Gallant said in a news release Wednesday.

As the investigation continued over the years, police named a person of interest who they found through evidence. Ronald Thomas Gale was 22 years old at the time of the murder, but had already died when police identified him.

Police want anyone who knew Gale, his friends or his colleagues in 1983 to come forward. Police are also asking anyone with connections to the gay community and who are between the ages of 50 and 60 to come forward if they have any information that could shed some light on the case.
