Police have identified the man shot and killed outside an East York social club Wednesday night as 46-year-old Ardian Kaloshi of Woodbridge.

Speaking to reporters Thursday morning, Det.-Sgt. Mike Patterson said officers from 54 Division were called to 393 Donlands Avenue, located near Plains Road, shortly before 10 p.m. for a reported shooting.

When police arrived on scene, a male victim, later identified as Kaloshi, was found with “obvious head injuries,” Patterson said.

He was rushed to St. Michael’s Hospital via emergency run but was later pronounced dead.

Suspect information has not yet been released.

The investigator told reporters that Kaloshi lived “north of the city” but would not provide a specific location.

Patterson also confirmed that Kaloshi was known to police but said he was "not going to get in to the type of crimes."

Kaloshi was gunned down outside a social club where Patterson said people gather to eat and play cards.

“At this point I don’t know if a particular community gathers there,” he said, noting that police have had no problems with the club in the past.

The homicide detective also said investigators believe this is not the first time Kaloshi has visited the area.

“I would like to make an appeal to those individuals that were inside 393 Donlands Avenue and fled the premises prior to the arrival of police--I need you to come forward and contact us,” Patterson said.

Police are also appealing to any businesses in the area that may have security camera footage of the incident.

“It would be of extreme benefit to us to provide that for our investigation,” Patterson said.

“Just like every case nowadays, we are hoping for video to crack this wide open.”

Patterson said Kaloshi’s autopsy will likely be conducted today.
