Stray horses added a little excitement to the Sunday morning drive in Caledon after a pack was spotted running on a road.

Peel Police received a call shortly after 11 a.m. about horses on the road near Mayfield and Chinguacousy Roads.

A portion of Creditview Road was temporarily closed as Peel Police and Caledon OPP assisted in rounding up the seven horses safely.

No injuries were reported.

Peel Regional Police Stf.-Sgt. Scott Clair said the incident could have resulted in more than just traffic disruptions, especially if it had been nighttime or poor weather conditions.

“It would be worse than driving into a deer,” he said. “Horses are much bigger.”

Clair said the incident was highly unusual, given that the area where the horses were found is not surrounded by farmland.

“Most of Brampton is built up, especially right up to Mayfield Road,” he said.

Clair did not have information on where the horses came from or why they were on the loose.
