Two northbound lanes of University Avenue closed Sunday night, and will remain closed for another three weeks for construction.

Northbound lanes were closed at Elm Street, just north of Dundas Street West, at 7 p.m. on Sunday. As a result of the closure, westbound traffic on Elm cannot access University Avenue until the area reopens on Friday, Feb. 6.

Drivers can turn from University onto Elm, and drive straight across University to continue along Elm.

In a statement, the city warned that "there will be periods of time when it appears there is no work taking place at the site. However, this is when crews will be doing such work as watermain disinfection and custom pipe work."

The construction is part of a larger watermain replacement project that is expected to be completed by October 2015.
