Toronto Police say a 61-year-old man is dead and a 64-year-old man is in serious condition after they were both struck by a car in the Scarborough Village area on Friday evening.

Police said they were called to the area of Kingston Road and Guildcrest Drive sometime before 6:30 p.m. for a report of two pedestrians struck.

Paramedics said the 61-year-old man was taken to Sunnybrook Hospital via emergency run and was later pronounced dead.

The 64-year-old man suffered injuries to his arms and legs and is in serious but stable condition.

A Toronto Police traffic services officer said a TTC bus was heading west on Kingston Road when it collided with a GMC SUV heading east on Kingston Road that was turning left onto Saunders Road.

The force of the impact sent the SUV into the path of the two men crossing the north side of Kingston Road at Saunders Road, Sgt. Alan Cohen said.

Police closed the westbound lanes of Kingston Road at Guildcrest Drive to allow for an investigation.
