A 37-year-old construction worker was injured after an incident at a construction site in Erin Mills Town Centre in Mississauga late Monday night.

Const. Lilly Fitzpatrick of Peel Regional Police said the call came in at 11 p.m. on Monday night. The incident happened on the roof of the complex, and a 37-year-old man was injured when a roof truss collapsed, causing beams to fall on him.

He was taken to a hospital across the street, and then by Ornge to a trauma centre in Toronto. He is currently in critical but stable condition. Police said the incident happened at a section of the mall under renovation that is not open to the public.

Peel Regional Police and the Ministry of Labour are now investigating.
