One person is dead following a massive house fire in Stoney Creek last night.
Crews were called to a home on Fifth Road East shortly before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday for a working house fire.
When firefighter arrived on scene, they found the home was fully engulfed in flames.
One person was found without vital signs at the rear of the house and was transported to hospital, where they later died.
At the height of the blaze, between 30 and 40 firefighters were battling the fire and a few of the firefighters suffered minor injuries.
A fire safety officer told CP24 that the injured firefighters were treated by paramedics on scene.
The fire was out shortly before 4 a.m.
It is unclear exactly what caused the deadly fire and the Office of the Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.
