Police say more than a dozen people are facing charges following a months-long investigation into a "sophisticated" drug-trafficking operation.

The group was involved in trafficking cocaine and marijuana in the Halton Region, Hamilton and Toronto. Police say they were “well entrenched in the drug culture” in those areas, and were able to avoid being caught using "counter-detection techniques."

An investigation into the group was first launched in April. On Monday, 15 search warrants were executed in Hamilton, the Halton Region and Toronto.

Police say they seized:

  • More than 100 lbs of marijuana
  • 2.5 kilograms of cocaine
  • 1 kilogram of cannabis resin
  • Two semi-automatic handguns and ammunition
  • Four vehicles that were “offence-related property”
  • $155,000 in cash

Fifteen suspects are facing multiple charges in connection with the investigation.
