All lanes of Highway 7 in Pickering are open to traffic again, after a six-car pileup on Tuesday afternoon left four people hurt, including a man suffering life threatening injuries.
Police say at around 3:51 p.m. a Dodge Caravan travelling westbound on Highway 7, east of Concession 6, crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic. The Caravan collided with a Hyundai Elantra. Afterwards, four more vehicles became involved in the collision.
In a release Ontario Provincial Police said the driver of the Dodge Caravan, a 49-year-old man from Maple, Ont., suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Hyundai, a 30-year-old man from Whitby, Ont., has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Two other drivers, a 49-year-old woman, and 27-year-old woman, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
