TORONTO, Ontario -- Toronto police say a man found dead in the city's northwest on Christmas Day was the victim of a homicide.

Officers found the man without vital signs around 6 p.m. near highways 400 and 401 and pronounced him dead at the scene.

His death was initially deemed suspicious but police say an autopsy showed it was a homicide.

The man has been identified as 59-year-old Vito Gironda of Toronto.

There's no word on a possible suspect.
