Toronto police have arrested a 21-year-old Toronto man in connection with a fatal stabbing at a Leslieville residence, one that may have been sparked by a breakup gone bad.

Police were called to a home at 110 Jones Ave., just south of Malton Avenue, at 2:07 a.m. on Friday.

A young man was found "suffering from obvious signs of trauma," Const. Wendy Drummond told ctvtoronto.ca.

He was later pronounced dead in hospital. The victim's name is Michael Minott, 19, of Toronto.

The residence in the trendy Toronto neighbourhood is less than a kilometre from the Duke of York -- the tavern where a 23-year-old Toronto woman was gunned down last fall.

Neighbours say the woman who lives at the house, a young mother of two, had broken up with her common-law husband and returned from a date with another man when the other man showed up.

One man said "all hell broke loose" -- culminating with someone getting stabbed.

Neighbour Beatrix Montanile said the woman and the ex-boyfriend had a "turbulent" relationship. "You know -- a lot of moving out, a lot of breaking up, a lot of reconciliation."

The home was a noisy one and the scene of many drunken parties, she said.

Some acquaintances of Minott described him to CTV Toronto as a nice, quiet young man.

Drummond said Jason Coleman, 21, faces a charge of second-degree murder.

She said Coleman had been expected to appear in court on Friday afternoon.
