A 52-year-old man has been charged in connection with the sexual assault of a 14-year-old boy in downtown Toronto earlier this year.

The alleged assaults occurred between January and May 2015 in the area of Wellesley and Sherbourne Streets.

Investigators say the boy was approached by a man who introduced himself as “Mike” and invited the boy up to his apartment where he allegedly sexually assaulted him.

Police allege the boy was assaulted several other times. On one occasion, investigators say the man threatened the victim’s life.

The boy notified authorities about the incidents in December.

On Tuesday, 52-year-old Mervyn Fitzgerald Duncan was arrested and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference with a person under 16 years old and uttering threats.

Duncan appeared in court on Tuesday.

Police believe there may be other victims and are asking anyone with information to contact them at 416-808-2922 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
