York Regional Police say they have arrested a man in connection with a suspicious death of an elderly woman in Richmond Hill.

Police received a call to a residential home on Baif Boulevard, near Yonge Street, south of Major Mackenzie Drive, around 5:15 a.m. Saturday.

A 23-year-old man was arrested after he arrived at a local hospital with injuries, police told CTV Toronto.

The man has not been charged at this time.

York Regional Police Const. Andy Pattenden says the relationship between the man arrested and the deceased woman is still being investigated, but they are believed to have known each other.

Police say the next of kin has not yet been notified. An autopsy is set to take place Sunday.

Anyone with information on the death is asked to contact York Regional Police.
