TORONTO -- Toronto police are looking for a man they allege choked a mother and punched her infant son.

It's alleged the woman in her 20s was sleeping on Monday night when the suspect entered their bedroom and then got into an argument with her while she held her son.

Police say he then grabbed her by the throat and punched her repeatedly.

They say he also punched the child on the side of the head, causing swelling and bruising, before the attack was interrupted by another person.

Investigators say the man threatened to kill the woman as he fled.

They've identified him as 23-year-old Richard Russell, described as a black man, 6-foot-1 with a silm build, goatee, light-coloured jeans, black sweater and black shoes.
