York Regional Police arrested a 32-year-old suspect in connection with a shooting that took place in a Vaughan storage yard Wednesday morning.

Police said they received reports of gunshots around the Freshway Drive and Costa Road, near the Edgeley community just after 6:30 a.m.

When they arrived on the scene, they found a man who told police he was involved in a fight at a nearby vehicle storage yard.

At one point in the altercation, the victim said the person he was fighting with went to his tow truck, pulled out a gun and began shooting at the victim. The victim was able to run away without any injuries.

Officers located a suspect later that day near Highway 7 and Highway 400.

Toronto resident Jeffrey Barker faces four charges, including attempt to commit murder using a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in court in Newmarket on May 26.
