Two separate accidents involving a lawn mower sent a child and a woman to Toronto-area hospitals on Sunday afternoon.
In the first incident, a 34-year-old woman suffered severe leg and arm trauma after an accident with a lawn mower at her house on Fairgrounds Road South in Stayner, Ont., shortly after 1 p.m.
Officials said the woman was riding a tractor mower down a steep embankment with her three-year-old son when the motor stalled. Police said the young boy called 911 and an air ambulance rushed the woman to Sunnybrook Hospital, where she remains.
The three-year-old boy was taken to Collingwood General and Marine Hospital in Collingwood, Ont., with minor injuries.
In Uxbridge, Ont., a boy between the ages of five and 10 suffered permanent leg damage after a lawn mower accident on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency crews said the child was taken to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital and then transported by a regional air ambulance to The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
Crews could not confirm how the accident occurred.
