OSHAWA, Ont. - An Oshawa man is facing multiple charges after police say a motorist drove impaired with his two-year-old daughter sitting in the front seat.

Durham Region police say officers got a call about an impaired driver Friday (at Ritson Road South and Dean Avenue) in the city east of Toronto but when they spotted the vehicle, the driver sped away.

It's alleged that when the driver stopped at a nearby residence, he refused to get out of the vehicle for officers and resisted arrest.

After a brief struggle, police say the man was taken to a nearby station for breath tests.

It's alleged that the child -- who was not injured -- was found in the front seat of the vehicle wearing only an adult seatbelt harness.

A 49-year-old man faces six charges, including impaired driving, flight from police and failure to ensure toddler is secured.
